Griffin Theatre
A creative fixture in Chicago for over three decades, this boutique company brings award-winning theater to town, and it’s touring shows are seen by over 100,000 people each year.
THE STORYTELLERS WERE TELLING THE WRONG STORY.
The website was over 15 years old, not mobile-friendly, and just didn’t match the current version of the Griffin. And the logo hadn’t been updated to be more screen friendly.
We started with the Brand Plan and helped evolve the Griffin’s story to reflect what truly makes their company special.
After.
Before.
The old logo is a classic and started life as a giant painted sign decades ago. But it had some issues that made it difficult to read online and reproduce. I was able to recreate the griffin icon digitally and add new modern fonts that make it feel fresh and easier to reproduce.
And even a fancy gold version for added drama. As well as the very useful horizontal version.
I adjusted their brand colors to be more flexible, and refocused it toward simple black, white, and gold with touches of their purple and green.
A clearer, more modern digital presence is critical to reconnecting with audiences in Chicago, promoting touring work to new presenters, and giving the company a platform it can be proud of.
Plus we made new collateral and stationery.
Now the Griffin can confidently step into its next chapter with a brand and website that reflects both its artistic integrity and its cultural impact.
“Bob helped build a site but more importantly built a brand that echoes throughout the business. He took the time to listen to the positioning required in my crowded field and built a brand that reflects the offering available for clients. Importantly, Bob brought energy and perspectives to the process. When we had healthy disagreements, we found a better answer. That commitment separated Bob from the ‘good-enough’ alternatives.”
